The sector covers a diverse range of businesses split between specialist lending institutions, asset managers and service companies with a financial bias amongst others. Despite their size, many of the groups within the sector are market leaders in the specialist segments of financial services on which they focus. Unlike a number of sectors, many of these companies are inversely correlated to each other. Our coverage stretches from small cap to the FTSE100. The Numis Financials team as a whole was voted No.1 in the Thomson Reuters Extel Survey for UK Small Cap Stocks 2007, 2008 2009 and No 2 in 2010, with one being voted No.1 in the Thomson Reuters Extel Survey of UK Small Cap Financials for 2008 and 2009.
